POSTCARDS FROM LYNCHBURG
Postcards from Lynchburg, at the time of this writing, was the longest-running campaign in advertising history. Beginning in the late 1950s, it was the first of its kind—more a series of non-fiction short stories about the people and the town than the typical alcohol ads of the day, which often tried to appeal to consumers with symbols of upward mobility and prosperity.
The campaign primarily ran as third-page print ads for three decades, and as the brand expanded globally, these ads were used as posters in metro stations across Europe.
For decades, Postcards from Lynchburg remaied a mainstay in the London Underground, appearing throughout Tube stations on every platform.
I am extremely proud to have contributed to upholding such an analog tradition.
